Jason King schöpft mit elektronischem Geleit

Ich bin nicht vollständig hinter die Geschichte gestiegen. Auch die Mailingliste habe ich nicht abonniert - aber trotzdem fasziniert mich diese kleine Geschichte: Eine Welt entwerfen, die nicht nach zwei Tagen schon wieder zusammengefallen ist. - Dazu braucht es ein paar Morgen Farmland, ein Haus drauf mit Scheune und Ställen - ein paar Masken. Und schon kann’s losgehen gehen mit dem Schöpfungsakt. Sehr schön fotografiert hat das der Schöpfer darselbst - in dem Falle Jason King. Ich empfehle die paar Minuten mal rüberzugehen.

i did not go completely behind the story. also i did not order the mailinglist - but still i am fascinated by the little story: to create a world which would not fall apart after two days- therefore it needs a few morgan farmland, with a house on it and maybe some hut and a barn - a few masks, and everything is ready for an act of creativity. very well captured is this by the creator himself - in this case Jason King. i recommend to take part for some minutes.

Ehrwürdige Nitzer Ebb haben ihre Werke neu aufgelegt und kommen mit ein paar exzellenten Remixen daher. Einen davon stelle ich hier vor und gehe davon aus, dass das Material auf genügend Interesse stösst, es dann beim Plattenhändler des Vertrauens genauer unter die Lupe zu nehmen.

honorable Nitzer Ebb did remaster their work and come up with some excellent remixes. one of them i introduce today and hope i create so much interest to take a closer look at it later in the record store.

Röyksopp Vorliebe für Pop ist hinlänglich bekannt. Mir schielen sie zu oft zu deutlich auf die Tanzfläche. Mehr was für mich, sind einige schön abgedunkelte Stücke wie dieses Alpha male.

Röyksopp prefere pop which is well known. to me they are flattering a little too obvious with the dance floor. i like actually better the more dark tracks like this Alpha male.

2001 gab es einen Sampler von uncut, auf dem einige interessante Leute zusammengetragen wurden. Der düstere Schotte Paul Haig war mit von der Partie, und eben jener erwischte mich immer auf dem richtigen Fuss.

120 Days sind noch nicht vorbei, da fand ich dieses finstere elektronische Zwischenspiel bei Coast is clear. Hat mich beeindruckt, darum greife ich diese norwegische Drohne auf - wollen doch mal sehen, ob da wer recht hatte mit dem nächsten Hype. *g*

Den Abschluss heute macht eine schöne dunkle Nummer aus dem Hause Jelinek. Ich muss gestehen, dass mir der Meister bis zu diesem wunderbaren Werk etwas zu jazzorientiert war. Aber das hier, das klöppelt und mäandert vor sich hin, dass es eine wahre Freude ist.

the endtrack for today is a nice number by Jelinek. i have to admit that the master was besides this wonderful work a little too jazzy for me. but this here is quit different and a real pleasure.

Kate and Camilla mit Tracks für die Seele

Bei den Popnutten fand ich heute Kate und Camilla. Eindrücklich mit viel Pop. Die Fotos. Und Protagonisten mit einem ausgeprägten Sinn für die Ränder. Die Fotografinnen - eine aus Pennsylvania, die andere aus London - haben es sich in ihrem Studio an der Brookly Bridge in NY recht gemütlich gemacht. Fotografiert wird, wie die Kunden sich darstellen. Macht-ihr-mal als Motto, der Selbstdarstellung das professionelle Auge zu leihen. Klappt prima, wie man auf ihrer Homepage bewundern kann.
Die Track-Auswahl heute wird von Ohrwurm-Potentialität geleitet. Nicht ganz alltägliche Soundteppiche, die mir aus unerklärlichen Gründen viel bedeuten oder um ihrer Seltsamkeit so gut gefallen.

at Popnutten i found today Kate and Camilla. impressing with a lot of pop the pictures are. and protagonists with a big sense for the edges. the photographers - one from Pennsylvania, the other from London - did get used to their studio at the brooklyn bridge in NY. the catch the clients how they present themselves. it works just fine how it is to see on their homepage. the track selection is ruled today with potential easiness. no daily sound waves which i dont know why mean a lot to me. i guess i like them for their strangeness.

Animal Collective kann ich nicht täglich hören. Aber dieses Stück hier gehört für mich zu Musik mit Stimmungaufhellungsgarantie. Es hat eine unergründliche Wärme. Und Lied kann man nicht wirklich dazu sagen.

Animal Collective i cannot enjoy always, but this track here is for me music which enlightens my mind. it has a a destinct warmness and its supposed to be something more than just a song.

Als Fan von Jesus und Mary Chain gefällt mir das Liedgut von Duraluxe fast automatisch. Nach einem langen und anstrengenden Tag nach Hause kommen, die CD auf heavy rotation und nicht mehr viele Worte verlieren.

as a fan of Jesus and Mary Chain i almost claim the songs of Duraluxe naturally. after a long and stressful day coming home, putting the cd on heavy rotation and there is no need for much more words.

Eels dieser verquere Songschreiber darf in so einer kleinen Liste popartiger Seltsamkeiten nicht fehlen. Dieses seiner zugänglichsten Stücke einer kann mir umgehend die Tränen der Frustration aus den Hirnhälften treiben.

Eels, this weird songwriter should not to be missed in this little list of strange pop. this one (one of his more easy tracks) can immediatly push tears out of my brainparts.

Martha Wainwright erinnert mich irgendwie immer an Tom Waits. Renitenz allerorten. Scheint in der Familie zu liegen. Grosses Kino das Stück hier. Danach wird dann in der Regel mit PJ Harvey nachgelegt.

Martha Wainwright always reminds me somehow of Tom Waits, renitence everywhere. seems to belong to the family. this track here is great cinema. after that follows usually PJ Harvey.

Wenn Schnulzenzeit ist Moneybrother-Zeit. Allein das Cover des Albums. Aua! Bis zur Unkenntlichkeit muss das Gefühl überhöht werden. So gehört sich das. Das könnte nur noch von den grossen Soul-Balladen getoppt werden. Aber das ist nicht heute.

if easy listening time then with the Moneybrothers. the cover itsself, aua! until out of reachness the emotions must be overtopped. thats the way it has to be. this only could be topped by some great soul ballads, but not for today.

Edward Weston und Salem

Heute mal ein einzelnes Bild eines Klassikers der Fotografie. Ich muss gestehen, die arrangierten Fotografien von Weston - aus einer Zeit, als Fotografie noch diesen starken Hang zur Malerei hatte - sind nicht so wirklich meine Kanne Tee. Aber diese Aufnahme einer Mühle hat für mich etwas angenehm intensives, ohne dabei aufdringlich zu sein. Sie erinnert mich einfach nur an einen James-Dean-Film, es muss Jenseits von Eden sein.
Musikalisch möchte ich dem Bild heute passenderweise etwas aus der Sparte Alt-Country hinzufügen. So ein Calexiko-Kamelle oder 16 Horsepower wären ja wie gemacht für dieses Foto. Staubgeschwängerter Arizona-Sound. Zu innwendig. Deshalb kommen ein paar dänische Jungs zum Zug: Salem mit dem herzerweichenden und trotzdem sowas von optimischen The Anatomy of Pain. Grosses Ohrenkino.

today for a change a single pic of a photography classic. i have to admitt, the arranged images of Weston - from a time, when photography still had this strong connection to painting - are not really so much my thing. but this shot of a mill does have something comfortable intense, whitout being obtrusive. it just reminds me of a james dean film, i guess its East of eden. so for today some suiting old country. a calexico camelle or 16 tons would be like made for this picture. dusty arizona sound. but too much insight. so some danish boys will do it: Salem with the heartbreaking and still so optimistic Anatomy of pain -great theatre for the ears.

Sanchezbrothers mit Kaizers Chiefs vs Run DMC

Es scheint bei den beiden jungen Brüdern aus Kanada noch nicht ganz klar, wohin die fotografische Reise gehen wird. Ihre noch recht überschaubaren Arbeiten versprechen Interessantes. Zum einen die leicht surrealen Szenen, zum anderen die sterilen, handwerklichen Momentaufnahmen. Fasziniert bin ich von ihren wenigen Arbeiten jetzt schon. Sie stellen gerade in Amsterdam und danach in Paris aus. Ein fast blasphemischer Mix aus Retro-Rock und Old School und Disco ist doch was Feines zu alten Ritualen.

it seems not to be clear for these two canadian brothers where the artistique trip will lead to. their work is not that much but very interesting. one one side the rather surrealistic scenes, on the other sterile, handworking captures. iam already fascinated now from their few works. they have an exhibition now in amsterday and after that in paris. an almost blasphemic mix of retro-rock and Old Scholl and disco is controversive to old rituals.

Michael Kerstgens sendet mit Mindlobster

Faszinierend. Nicht nur die Fotos. Schon die Story. Friesische Mennoniten, die vor mehr als 50 Jahren nach Paragay auswanderten. Im ersten Moment fragt man sich noch, wo in Brandenburg das sein könnte. Aber dann sind da diese Rinder, Lassos, Hüte und schliesslich das Licht, das es so nicht Deutschland wohl nicht gibt. Schöne besinnliche Fotos die etwas von dem vermitteln, was mir sich anders schon gar nicht mehr erschliesst - ein Leben, das vorrangig mit Religion und Traditionen erschliesst. Kerstgens Bilder können mir zumindest eine Ahnung davon vermitteln. Und zu diesem Foto sind Mindlobster’s passend auf Sendung.

fascinating. not only the pictures, already the story is. friesisch mennonites who immigrated more than 50 years ago to paraguay. in the first moment one might wonder where in Brandenburg the subjects are supposed to be. but then there is the beef, lassos, huts and finally the special light which is hard to find in germany. beautiful pictures who speak of a traditional and spiritual world which is uncommon to us. Kerstgens images can catch an idea of it. coming with this photo are Mindlobster.

Shen Wei an der Seite von Circlesquare

Wer meinte, Porträts seien ein längst ausgereiztes Sujet, muss sich nur jene von Shen Wei ansehen. Eindrückliche Selbstdarstellungen. Fast zärtlich, mit sehr viel Achtung und Respekt bewegt sich der Fotograf zwischen den fragilen Zurschaustellungen, die nie Pose werden. Almost Naked heisst seine Serie, die vom ersten bis zum letzten Bild überzeugt.

who thinks that portaits is a too well used subject should have a look at those from Shen Wei. impressing self inscenation. almost tenterly and with a lot of honour and respect the photograph moves between the fragile exhibitionisme which is never just only a pose. Almost Naked is the name of his serie which is convincing from the first to the last picture.
