Mit Erwin Olaf lässt sich hervorragend an
Gregory Crewdson anknüpfen. Auch Olaf inszeniert seine Fotos. Allerdings holt er hier weniger die dunklen Seiten in uns herauf als vielmehr hält er das Seltsame fest. Das sich schon oder allein im Fotografieren ergibt. Der Moment, der deswegen seltsam erstarrt, weil er als Moment festgehalten wird.
it is tempting to relate Erwin Olaf with Gregory Crewdson. like Crewdson Olaf is arranging his pictures. but he is more going for strange scenes than for the dark sides in us. the moment who looks bizzarre in a frozen way because he is captured as a moment.

Die Szenarien sind surreal. Das unterschwellige Abseitspotential kommt bei den Bildern von Gregory Crewdson an Licht. Ans Licht meint hier, die scheinbare normale Idylle zeigt ihre finstere Seite, für einen Augenblick. Ein Schelm, wer an David Lynch denken muss. Seine Serie Twilight hält beeindruckende Übungen für diese Art Sehen bereit.
the scenes are surrealisitc. the underneath outside potential appears on the pictures of Gregory Crewdson. the apparently normal bright shows for a moment its dark sides. a rascal who has to think of David Lynch. his episode Twilight is holding impressing exercises for this way of watching.
