Ein weiteres Mal bin ich bei Conscientious fündig geworden. Der Mann hat aber auch interessante Links anzubieten. - Sein Hinweis gilt Andrew Miksys - einem Amerikaner, der zwischen Vilnius (Litauen) und Seattle pendelt. Natürlich haben seine Bingo-Fotos etwas deprimierendes. Aber die Lichtbilder aus der Disco sind nicht weniger erdrückend. Wo ist der gemeine wie besondere Unterschied der Jugend geblieben. Die Tore zur Welt ganz weit offen, der ungetrübte Blick auf die Versprechen der Welt da draussen, später. Ist irgendwie nicht zu finden. In Seattle nicht, New York nicht und auch nicht in Litauen.

another time i found interesting links at Conscientious. he put a spell on Andrew Miksys, an american who travels between Vilnius (Litauen) and seattle. of course his bingo pictures are a little depressing. but the light pics from the disco are heavy too. where did remain the common and special difference of the youth. the doors into the world wide open, the naiv view on all the promises out there, later. it is somehow not to find, not in seattle, not in new york and not as well in Litauen.

Heute habe ich ein paar meiner Lieblingsstücke ausgepackt, auf denen insbesondere Gitarre und Pose stehen. Selbstverständlich ist das bei mir dann nicht echter Rock’n'Roll - sondern die etwas akademischere Variante. Aber zwei der Vorgestellten sind wenigstens Jungs, auf die sich andere beziehen. Im Gegensatz zu ihnen schöpfen drei letzten Combos mit voller Kelle aus der Referenzhölle. Macht aber Spass - und dass ist bei Musik ja noch immer das Wichtigste.

today i grabbed out some of my favourite tracks with a lot of guitar and pose. of course in my case it is kind of an academic rock n roll. but others relate after all to two of the introduced bands. the other three combos however come without any limits out of the reference hell. so its just fun- what else could be more important when it comes down to music.

Überkandidelte Vocals, eine hektisch-bis nervöse Stimme - gesungen - mehr gehaucht, mit Hicksern und Giggeleien. Dazu monotone Akkorde und die konsequente Überanspruchung von Synthesizern und einem hässlichen Drumcomputer. Mehr brauchten Suicide nicht, um Kult zu werden

overdone vocals, a hectic almost nervous voice, more whispered than sung, with hick ups and giggeling. the music just monotone accords and the most consequent use of synthesizers and an ugly drum computer. suicide dont need more to become cult.

Dann gibt’s es noch das Urgestein am Posen, wobei der Mann mir den Kopf abreissen würde, würde ich dazu akademisch sagen. Eines der häufig gecoverten Stücke - The Passenger. Mein eigentlicher Favorit ist eigentlich die Version von Siouxsie & the Banshees ist.

then there is the dynosaur of posing, although the man would rip me to shreads if i called him academic. this song was many times covered - the passenger. my actual favourite is actually the version by Siouxsie & the Banshees.

Gleichfalls aus New York - 25 Jahre später mimen die Musiker von Interpol geräuschvoll Pose. Nicht die ersten auf aber irgendwie weniger als die Strokes - dafür etwas more sophisticated - mehr Joy Division. Mir persönlich gefällt der zweite Longplayer besser als das Debüt - einfach weil es mehr rockt. Was für eine Platte.

also from new york - 25 years later the musicians from Interpol pose noisy. not the first ones but somehow less like the Strokes - although more sophisticated - more Joy Divison. i actually like the second long player better than the debut - just because it is more rocking. what an album.

Die Art Rock und Avantgarde zu verknüpfen ist ja weissgott nicht so neu. Und sicherlich ist No Wow nicht das beste Album, das zu dokumentieren. Aber dieses fast Rohe vom Opener des Albums erfreut mich immer wieder.

to mix rock with avantgarde is god knows not that new. and it might not match perfectly to comment this with No Wow. but the almost raw power from the albums opener does always please me.

Der letzte Track in dieser Reihe - Dänen. Nicht das die grundsätzlich das Posen so gut beherrschen. Dieser gute Mann allerdings kann das und vermengt aufs Vorzüglichste Jesus and Mary Chain und den Motown der 60er.

the last track of the serie - a danish one. not that they would be that good in posing, but this man knows how to do it and his mix of Jesus and Mary Chain with the Motown of the sixties is fabulous.

Sie war eine der ersten anerkannten Fotografinnen in der Profiszene. Mich beschäftigen vor allem jene Bilder, die sie in Deutschland aufnahm. - Vor allem jenes, auf dem Familie Lisso aufgenommen wurde.
Sie war nicht nur die erste Industriefotografin sondern machte sich mit einigen Fotos als Kriegsfotografin einen Namen.

she was one of the first well known female photographer in the profi scene. i get particularely touched by the pictures she took in germany- especially the one taken from the family Lisso. she was not only the first industrial photographer but is also famous for her pictures of the war.

Frauen, die eine coole Stimme über elektornische Musik legen, erfreuen meine Gehörgänge auf hervorragende Weise. Und derer gibt es einige. Heute kommen von dieser Seite meine aktuellen Favoriten. Nichts Liebliches, aber gleichfalls keine überstrapazierten Stimmzäpfchen. Scheinbar unangestrengt - aber zu unterkühlter Musik kommt das extrem leger.

Edward Weston und Salem

Heute mal ein einzelnes Bild eines Klassikers der Fotografie. Ich muss gestehen, die arrangierten Fotografien von Weston - aus einer Zeit, als Fotografie noch diesen starken Hang zur Malerei hatte - sind nicht so wirklich meine Kanne Tee. Aber diese Aufnahme einer Mühle hat für mich etwas angenehm intensives, ohne dabei aufdringlich zu sein. Sie erinnert mich einfach nur an einen James-Dean-Film, es muss Jenseits von Eden sein.
Musikalisch möchte ich dem Bild heute passenderweise etwas aus der Sparte Alt-Country hinzufügen. So ein Calexiko-Kamelle oder 16 Horsepower wären ja wie gemacht für dieses Foto. Staubgeschwängerter Arizona-Sound. Zu innwendig. Deshalb kommen ein paar dänische Jungs zum Zug: Salem mit dem herzerweichenden und trotzdem sowas von optimischen The Anatomy of Pain. Grosses Ohrenkino.

today for a change a single pic of a photography classic. i have to admitt, the arranged images of Weston - from a time, when photography still had this strong connection to painting - are not really so much my thing. but this shot of a mill does have something comfortable intense, whitout being obtrusive. it just reminds me of a james dean film, i guess its East of eden. so for today some suiting old country. a calexico camelle or 16 tons would be like made for this picture. dusty arizona sound. but too much insight. so some danish boys will do it: Salem with the heartbreaking and still so optimistic Anatomy of pain -great theatre for the ears.

Michael Wolf tanzt mit Booka Shade

Entdeckt hatte ich Michael Wolf durch seine Hong-Kong-Serie 100×100. Dort werden 100 Menschen und ihrem beklemmend engen Wohnräumen porträtiert. Auf 100 square feet - das sind 9,3 Quadratmeter! Heute wollte ich auf andere Fotos von ihm hinweisen. Jetzt möchte man sich noch die Häuser vortellen, in denen solche Miniature-Wohnungen eingebaut sind. Die liefert Michael Wolf in einer anderen Serie - nicht minder nachhaltig, diese Aufnahmen. Ich werde jeden künftigen Morgen mit einem Stossgebet beginnen, in solch raum-luxuriösen Gegenenden wie Zürich oder Berlin zu leben zu können.

i discovered Michael Wolf through his Hong-Kong-serie 100×100. its a portrait by him of 100 humans in their small housing. they live like on 100 square feet all of them. today i wanted to introduce different stuff from him. the houses of those miniature flats Wolf shows in another episode, not less uneasy, those pictures. i will every future day start with a thank you pray that i can live in such space rich rooms like in berlin or zurich.

Elger Esser und Mikkel Metal

Seine Fotografien haben etwas Entrücktes. Gelbe oder grüne Filter oder jene Verfremdung, die seine Fotos wie impressionistische Malerei wirken lässt. In fast jedem seiner Fotos ist ein Sehsuchte anwesend, ein Warten. Es ist eine fast spürbare Ruhe oder sogar Stillstand - gemessen an dem schnellen Wesen unserer Tage.

his images are kind of fading away. yellow and green filters or just this unreal touch which makes his pictures look like an impressionistic painting. almost all his shots are full of a longing and seem like to wait for something. they have quit a sense for calmness or even stillness - measured on the fast going ons of these days.

Wahnsinn, diese Fotografien aus den Produktionsstätten Chinas. Das sind Dimensionen, die kann man sich gerade noch vorstellen, wenn man mit Fordismus oder den Modern Times von Chaplin etwas anzufangen weiss. Ansonsten ist das eine Mischung aus ästhetischer Faszination und Angstschweiss, dass könnte eventuell auf uns oder die nächste Generation zukommen.

crazy, this images about the production places of china. familiarity with Fordismus or Modern Times by Chaplin might help to only think of those dimension. besides it is just a mix of esthetic fascination and anxiouty that all this could happen to us too one day.
