Gestern hatte ich einen Moment Zeit durch unser aller geliebtes und gehasstes myspace-Universum zu schlendern. Dabei vielen mir – absolut zufällig – einige Bands und ihre Stücke Musik vor die Füsse, bei denen ich nicht so recht weiss, was ich davon halten soll. Vielleicht kann ja der eine oder andere Besucher dieser Seite (leider sind die meisten derer meiner Muttersprache nicht kundig, wie die Statistik sagt) einen wohlmeinenden Hinweis geben.

Ich fange mal mit vier Schwedinnen an. Sahara Hotnights (was für ein selten bescheidener Name) haben auf myspace eine neues Stück Musik der werten Fan-Gemeinde vorgestellt. Man ist sofort bereit einverständiges Popnicken zu demonstrieren – aber dann rutscht da immer dieses hallmässig aufgebauschte Hintergrundgeräusch dazwischen. So als würde jemand unerwartet laut die Türe zur Bühnenrückseite zuschlagen. Schlimm. Wo doch die Melodie so unbeschwert und einfach daherkommt.

yesterday i found some time to walk through the by anybody beloved or hated myspace universe. by random some bands popped out which i dont really know how to treat. i would appreciate a hint however from one or the other of my visitors.

to start with four sweds. Sahara Hotnights (what a rare modest name) did introduce on myspace a new track to the fans. it temps to nodd with the simple pop if there would not be the constant strange background noise which sounds a little lke someone would always shut the door to the stage. bad since the melody is on the opposite so easy.

Dann fand ich Musiker aus dem sonnigen Kalifornien. Sherwood hobeln auf den wenig ausgefeilten Pop-Mustern herum. Überschaubare Raffinesse, ein bisschen Hand claps, viele Ohoohoohs neben leicht verständlichen you-bringing-out-the-best-in-me und ein fulminanter Schluss – alles was so ein sonniger Indie-Hit braucht. Nach dem dritten Hören, sehe ich mich gezwungen mitzuwippen.

then i found musicians from the sunny california. Sherwood get a lot out of the less perfected pop tunes. handy know how, some hand claps, a lot of ohoohoohs besides easy “you-bring-out-the-best-in-me” and a hot finish – it got everything what a sunny indie-hit needs. after the third turn i have to shake with the wips too.

Wenn ich – wegen der Sonne noch ein bisschen bleibe – finden sich ein paar Jungs – HelloGoodbye – mit aufgeräumten Synthpop der neuen Sorte. Diese Stimmenverzerrer habe ich sooft gehört, dass ich gar nicht auf Anhieb sagen kann, wer mir da hauptsächlich die Erinnerung geprägt hat. Jedenfalls hat diese Combo noch nicht genug davon. Sie präsentieren das mit rumpelndem Disco-energetischem Druck nach vorn. Das ist alles sehr nett und hört sich überdeutlich nach Auslaufmodell an.

when i – because of the sun – stay a little longer i find HelloGodby. this are some guys with clean synthpop of the new kind. to those voice extensions i listened so much that i cannot really tell who exactly impressed my memory. anyway this combo is not going to quit it. they indeed push it with a rumbling disco sound. all this is nice and sounds still a little rewarmed.

Mitten aus einem der Zentren amerikanischer Wahrhaftigkeit umwerben uns The Fray. Ordentlich produziert und mit grosser Kelle angerührt. Es gefällt. Immerhin mehr als 16 Millionen mal (!) hat sich dieses Stück produzierte Wohltemperiertheit in Gehörwindungen geschraubt. Warum hat sich mir noch nicht komplett erschlossen – aber es gibt mit Sicherheit Schlimmeres. (Lästermaul, du Böses)

from the middle of one of the american centers of truth The Fray try to attract us. a decent production mixed up like the big deal. people like it. after all they sold this well tempered track 16 million times. i still dont see completely why but mabe i am not the only one.

Wie gesagt Synthie. Seit 2005 kam dazu einiges Aufgewärmtes ins Haus. Zum Beispiel von The Click Five (dieses The zum Beispiel verstehe ich nicht). Dafür ist der Text des vorgetragenen Gesangsstückes einfacher. Das Mädchen, dass man sucht, kann man finden. Tröstlich ist das. Auch in diesem Falle ging das Liedgut inzwischen über eine Million mal über die myspace-Theke. Da muss also was dran sein. Klar doch. Das ist Boston.

like i said: synthie. since 2005 a lot of rewarmed is out. for example by The Click Five (the The i dont understand). instead the words of the following song are more simple. the wanted gal is possible to find. its consoling. in this case the track went over a million time over the myspace-desk. there must be something about it. of course. boston.
