William Howard auf Etwas ist falsch Herbert

Die neue Grenze zwischen Mexiko und den USA. In Material. William Howard hat sie aufgenommen. Eindrücke für all jene, die gerade keine Lust auf USA-Tourismus haben. Wellblechkilometer um Wellblechkilometer. Das muss nicht mit sehr viel Kommentar versehen werden. Die Fotos sind beeindruckend und dabei kommt Howard auch noch ohne jedes Pathos aus. Auch wenn Herbert dazu etwas lässig aus der Box kommt, stimmt nicht nur der Titel.

the border between mexico and the USA. in material. William Howard did catch it. impressions for those who do not feel like USA-tourisme at the moment. sheet metal , miles for miles. a lot of comentary to this is not needed. the images are impressing and done without a lot of pathos. maybe Herbert might come out of the box a little too easy but even the title makes sense.

Wer meinte, Porträts seien ein längst ausgereiztes Sujet, muss sich nur jene von Shen Wei ansehen. Eindrückliche Selbstdarstellungen. Fast zärtlich, mit sehr viel Achtung und Respekt bewegt sich der Fotograf zwischen den fragilen Zurschaustellungen, die nie Pose werden. Almost Naked heisst seine Serie, die vom ersten bis zum letzten Bild überzeugt.

who thinks that portaits is a too well used subject should have a look at those from Shen Wei. impressing self inscenation. almost tenterly and with a lot of honour and respect the photograph moves between the fragile exhibitionisme which is never just only a pose. Almost Naked is the name of his serie which is convincing from the first to the last picture.

Jacob Carter und The Russian Futurists

Hatte ich vor einigen Tagen schon mal auf Caspar David Friedrich verwiesen, gilt das auch für einige Fotos von Jacob Carter. Diese Technik, Fotos fast wie impressionistische Gemälde wirken zu lassen, scheint derzeit mächtig angesagt, befindet gleichfalls Joerg Colberg, bei dem ich auf Jacob Carter aufmerksam wurde. Neben seinen Strandfotos ist die AKW-Serie sehr spannend. Werft gleich auch einen Blick auf einige seiner Auftragsarbeiten. Spannend.

like i mentioned a couple days ago Caspar David Friedrich i relate also some images of Jacob Carter to him. this ability to make look photos like impressionistic paintings seems to be in right now. this also Joerg Colberg thinks who put my attention on Jacob Carter. besides his beach pictures is the AKW-episode very exciting. have a look on some of his works by order. exciting.

Goon#18, Spoonfork#6 und Client

Holla, das neue Goon ist draussen. Ein feines Pop-Magazin, mit Beiträgen zur literarischen, musikalischen und cineastischen Popkultur. Mit Hot Chip haben sie einen meiner Favoriten thematisch an Bord. Und die Frage, warum Mode sich von Terror angezogen fühlt, ist natürlich ein wunderbar provozierendes Thema.

By the way - auch ein anderes, kleines aber feines Magazin hatte kürzlich eine neue Ausgabe in die Welt entlassen. Spoonfork tritt zum sechsten Mal an, unsere Popherzen zu erfreuen. Sommer ist ein Schwerpunkt mit Bikini-Fotostrecke, Urlaub auf kleinstem Raum für Null-Budget und einem T-Shirt-Special. Alles super!

Holla, the new Goon is out. a fine pop-magazin, with posts from pop culture related literature, music and movies. with Hot Chip there is one of my favourite on board. and the question why fashion gets attracted by terror is of course a wonderful provocating topic.

by the way - another small but fine magazin did recently publish a new issue. Spoonfork is going to please our pop hearts for the sixth time. summer is a main point with bikini photo trip, vacation on smallest space for nothing and a t-shirt special. super.

Michael Kenna und Sr. Click (Chuänchö)

Wer immer das Kontemplative in der Malerei oder Fotografie mag, wird sich an Michael Kenna erfreuen. Seine Schwarzweiss-Fotos haben genau dieses Meditative. Momentaufnahmen, die wie Mahnbilder den majestätitschen Ausdruck in der Natur suchen. Jedesmal wenn ich eine Kenna-Fotografie ansehe werde ich unwillkürlich an den grossen Protagonisten der deutschen romantischen Malerei erinnert. Caspar David Friedrich.

who ever likes the kontemplative in painting or photograhie will like Michael Kenna. his black and white pictures are meditation like. captures of the moment which looks for the majestic expression in nature. every time i watch a work of Kenna Caspar David Friedrich, the great protagonist of german romantic painting comes to my mind.

Erwin Olaf und Dabrye

Mit Erwin Olaf lässt sich hervorragend an Gregory Crewdson anknüpfen. Auch Olaf inszeniert seine Fotos. Allerdings holt er hier weniger die dunklen Seiten in uns herauf als vielmehr hält er das Seltsame fest. Das sich schon oder allein im Fotografieren ergibt. Der Moment, der deswegen seltsam erstarrt, weil er als Moment festgehalten wird.

it is tempting to relate Erwin Olaf with Gregory Crewdson. like Crewdson Olaf is arranging his pictures. but he is more going for strange scenes than for the dark sides in us. the moment who looks bizzarre in a frozen way because he is captured as a moment.
