Zuerst kam ich nicht drauf. Aber dann hatte ich es wieder. Die Arbeiten von Colleen Plumb erinnern mich an einen Film von Peter Greenaway - Drowning by Numbers (Die Verschwörung der Frauen). Lauter tote Tiere. Wie sie die wohl findet. Vielleicht sollte ich meine selektive Wahrnehmung mal umstellen. Auf Zeit, versteht sich. Beeindruckend.

it took some time but then i got it. the work of Colleen Plumb reminds me of a movie from Peter Greenaway - Drowning by Numbers. just dead animals. i wonder how she finds them. maybe i should change my selective notice. on time of course. very impressing.

Hiroshi Watanabe und Asobi Seksu

In der Musik würde man modern Dringlichkeit sagen. Dieses Foto von Hiroshi Watanabe habe ich vor einigen Monaten zufällig aufgespürt. Es gehört zu jenen Ablichungen, die ich mir immer wieder ansehe. Dazu passt heute ein neues Stück der hier noch ziemlich unbekannten Asobi Seksu. Das neue Album Citrus steht kurz vor seiner Veröffentlichung. Pop vom Feinsten, mit einer japanischen Sängerin, die im Gegensatz zu japanisch-weiblichem Stimmeinsatz (glücklicherweise muss ich hinzufügen) ganz normal singen kann.

in music one might consider it intensity. this image from Hiroshi Watanabe i found randomly a couple months ago. it has become one of the pictures i watch again and again. today a new track of the around here rather unknown Asobi Seksu comes along with it. her new album Citrus is close before publishing. it is decent pop with a japanese singer who sounds in the opposite to known female japanese performances completely normal (thanx god).

Brian Ulrich sieht genauer hin. Auf die alltäglichen Warenberge, die uns umgehen, auf die Infrastruktur der Supermärkte, auf die Reihen an Kassen, die uns im Takt abfertigen. Jeden Tag. Bei seinen Fotos bekommt Einkaufen, die regelmässige Versorgung mit dem scheinbar Nötigen, seine Dimension von Überfluss zurück. Ganz unspektakulär, ganz unvermeidlich. Die unvorstellbare Steigerung zeigt die Kategorie Thrift auf seiner Homepage Das alles und sein Blog ist sehr empfehlenswert!

Brian Ulrich takes a closer view on the daily consumation trips around us, on the infra structure of grocery stores, the lines before the cash desk we have to deal with every day. his pictures show shopping and the regular supply we seem to need in a new dimension, the perspective of abundance in an unspectacular way. the category Thrift on his homepage shows the unbelivable exageration and i recommend it like his blog as well.

Seine Fotografien haben etwas Entrücktes. Gelbe oder grüne Filter oder jene Verfremdung, die seine Fotos wie impressionistische Malerei wirken lässt. In fast jedem seiner Fotos ist ein Sehsuchte anwesend, ein Warten. Es ist eine fast spürbare Ruhe oder sogar Stillstand - gemessen an dem schnellen Wesen unserer Tage.

his images are kind of fading away. yellow and green filters or just this unreal touch which makes his pictures look like an impressionistic painting. almost all his shots are full of a longing and seem like to wait for something. they have quit a sense for calmness or even stillness - measured on the fast going ons of these days.

Wahnsinn, diese Fotografien aus den Produktionsstätten Chinas. Das sind Dimensionen, die kann man sich gerade noch vorstellen, wenn man mit Fordismus oder den Modern Times von Chaplin etwas anzufangen weiss. Ansonsten ist das eine Mischung aus ästhetischer Faszination und Angstschweiss, dass könnte eventuell auf uns oder die nächste Generation zukommen.

crazy, this images about the production places of china. familiarity with Fordismus or Modern Times by Chaplin might help to only think of those dimension. besides it is just a mix of esthetic fascination and anxiouty that all this could happen to us too one day.

Dash Snow und Bobby Bare Jr.

Polaroids sind vor allem für diese Momente, in denen eigentlich keine Zeit ist, Fotografierwerkzeuge aus der Tasche zu kramen, ordentlich einstellen und den Auslöser betätigen. Dash Snow betreibt dieses Spiel konsequent bis konsequent. Auf der passenderweise gleichfalls sehr simplen Homepage kann man sich davon überzeugen. Bobby Bare Jr. feiert derweil nochmal Valentine, mit allem was dazugehört.

polaroids are particularely for those occasions where there is not much time left to deal with all the fancy camera equipment. Dash Snow is handling his polaroid with every consequence. also his homepage relates to this in an easy and simple way, while Bobby Bare Jr. is celebrating once again Valentine including every aspect of it.
