York der Knofel und Eux Autres

York der Knoefel ist ein Berliner Künstler, der zwischen New York und Berlin pendelt. Seine Arbeiten sind immer in ein gesamtes Raumkonzept gestellt. Mir haben es vor allem seine Porträts der Serie Berlin 2000 angetan.
Immer wieder gern aufgelegt, Eux Autres mit ihrem polierten Indie-Pop. Da kann man nicht viel falsch machen.

York the Knoefel is an artist from berlin who travels between New York and Berlin. his works are always set between the full concept of space. i particularely like his portraits of the Berlin 2000 episode. always an attraction on the turntable are Eux Autres with her polished Indie-Pop. no way to go wrong with this.

The Robocop Kraus und Nadav Kander

Feine Sache, Mashups die richtig gut klingen und dann noch in die Beine gehen. Eve Massacre ist berühmt für ihre exzellente Auswahl miteinander vermengter Musik. In diesem Falle eines meiner Lieblingsstücke der Robocop Kraus.
Nadav Kander trifft nicht immer meinen Geschmack bei seinen Porträts. Aber einige, wie dieses hier sind eindrücklich. Seine Landschaften haben etwas sehr surreales, beklemmendes. Aktuell bekanntestes Foto dürfte das neue Placebo-Cover sein.

nice thing, mashups which sound real great and let the hips shake too. Eve Massacre is famous for her excellent selection of related music. in this case one of my favourite tracks of Robocop Kraus. I dont like all the portraits of Nadav Kander but some like this one are very impressive. his landscpaes have something surrealistic and uneasy. the current best known image would most likely be the new Placebo-Cover.

Dorothea Lange und Iggy Pop

Sie hat die amerikanische Dokumentarfotografie massgeblich beeinflusst. Dorothea Lange hat in ihren Arbeiten vornehmlich an den Rändern des amerikanischen Way-of-Life eingesammelt. Auf den Feldern im mittleren Westen während der Weltwirtschaftskrise (Great Depression) und in den Internierungslagern für Amerikaner japanischer Herkunft.

she did influence the american documentary photography quit a big deal. Dorothea Lange did collect her works particularely at the edges of the american way of life. on the fields in the middle west during the great depression and in the camps for americans of japanese origin.

Jack Bridges auf Fort Minor

Das Chicago Housing Project war einmal eines der grössten Sozial-Wohnungsbauprojekte der Welt. Viel ist von diesem ambitionierten Vorhaben im Süden Chicagos nicht geblieben. In seinen Fotos dokumentiert Jack Bridges die Reste eines von Drogen und Gewalt zerstörten Viertels. Die vor allem in Sepia gehaltenen Fotografien versuchen die Wärme einzufangen, die es zwischen den Bewohnern dieser Community noch gibt. Als wollte Bridges – vorbei an möglichen nostalgischen Interpretationen – sagen: Hey seht hin, da gibt es noch mehr als Armut, Tod und Zerstörung.

the chicago housing project was once one of the biggest social housing project in the world. now there is not much left of this ambitiounes plan in the south part of chicago. through his pictures Jack Bridges is documenting the remainings of this by violence and drugs destroyed district. his particularely black and white images try to catch the warm tunes which are still alive between the inhabitants of the community, like he wanted to say – without possible nostalgic interpretations – : hey, check it out, there is still more than poverty, death and destruction.

Martin Parr und Vitalic

Einen nicht unbedingt symphatischen Blick wirft Brite Martin Parr auf seine Landsleute. Dem Mittelstand ist er mit seiner Linse vors Angesicht getreten und findet gepflegte Langeweile und ein fast groteskes Verhältnis zu britischen Werten – z. B. die Briten und das Reiten . Da kann man sich etwas Häme nur schwerlich verkneifen. Ich wäre sehr gespannt, wie das Porträt der Schweizer und Schweizerinnen aussähe, käme der Mann mit seinen Kameras mal vorbei. – Vitalic gibt heute das Kontrastprogramm – feines Stück zum Arschwackeln.

the english photographer Martin Parr has not really a nice look for his people. his pictures of the middle class show decent boreness and an almost grotesque relation to british values like for example horse riding. its hard to not smile about it. i would be curious how a portrait of swiss people would turn out if he would ever visit switzerland. – Vitalic gives the contrast for today – nice track for ass shaking.

Daido Moriyama und Saw Saw Soup

Einer der grossen japanischen Fotografen – Daido Moriyama. Schwarzweiss und alles was das Grau dazwischen hergibt. Es ist nicht sehr einfach, etwas mehr als das Bekannte über ihn zu finden. Ein recht ausführliche Seite zu ihm bzw. einem bemerkenswerten Fotoband habe ich auf einem neuen Angebot für Fotoliebhaber gefunden, dem Photo Book Guide (leider erst ein englischsprachiger Service).

one of the great japanese photographer – Daido Moriyama. pictures in black and white and all about the sensitive grey in between. it is not easy to find more about him than the already known. a quit rich site about him including a remarkable picture book i found on a new offer for picture lovers, the Photo Book Guide (unfortunately until now only a service in english).
